Ferritic stainless steel SUS444 (00Cr18Mo2) is an ultra-low carbon nitrogen, high corrosion resistant ferritic stainless steel containing 18% chromium and 2% molybdenum.
444 stainless steel is an ultra-low carbon, high chromium, double molybdenum ferritic stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance and pitting resistance. Its chemical composition includes carbon (C) ≤ 0.025%, manganese (Mn) ≤ 1.00%, silicon (Si) ≤ 1.00%, chromium (Cr) 17.0-20.0%, molybdenum (Mo) 1.75-2.50%, nickel (Ni) ≤ 0.5%, titanium (Ti) 0.1-0.5%, phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.04%, sulfur (S) ≤ 0.03%, and the rest is iron (Fe). 12
The physical properties of 444 stainless steel include a density of 7.75 g/cm ³, a melting point between 1420-1510 ° C, a tensile strength of 450-600 MPa, a yield strength of ≥ 280 MPa, an elongation of ≥ 20%, and a hardness of HRB 70-90. Its corrosion resistance is superior to ordinary ferritic stainless steel and close to the level of austenitic stainless steel, especially in chlorine containing environments, with excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.
Compared with 316 stainless steel, 444 stainless steel performs better in terms of resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking. Although 316 stainless steel also has good corrosion resistance, it is not as resistant to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking as 444 stainless steel. In addition, 444 stainless steel has a high thermal conductivity, about 130% -150% of chromium nickel austenitic stainless steel, and a small coefficient of thermal expansion, only 60% -70% of chromium nickel austenitic stainless steel, which makes it perform well in heat exchangers and applications with thermal cycling conditions.
444 stainless steel has a wide range of applications, including hot water systems, solar heaters, automotive exhaust systems, food processing equipment, heat exchangers, water heaters, water storage tanks, and solar collection panels. Its high corrosion resistance, high strength, and good processability make it widely used in these fields.
