AISI 5115 is a low-alloy steel containing elements such as manganese, chromium, and silicon, which has good weldability, machinability, and toughness. This type of steel is widely used in fields such as automotive parts, bearings, shafts, gears, etc. The following are different forms of heat treatment processes for AISI 5115 alloy steel:
Soft annealing: temperature between 650-700 ° C, furnace cooling, maximum hardness of 217HB
Quench:
Core quenching: Temperature between 860-900 ° C, oil quenching, hot oil bath (160-250 ° C).
Surface quenching: Temperature between 780-820 ° C, oil quenching, hot oil bath (160-250 ° C).
Tempering: Temperature between 150-200 ° C, air-cooled
In addition, the chemical composition of AISI 5115 is roughly as follows:
Carbon (C) 0.13-0.18%
Silicon (Si): 0.15-0.30%
Manganese (Mn): 0.70-0.90%
Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.035%
Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.04%
Chromium (Cr): 0.70-0.90%
Copper (Cu): ≤ 0.3%
Boron (B): 0.0005-0.003%
Aluminum (Al): ≤ 0.05%
