PGI Corrugated Steel Sheet
1. Term Definition
PPGI: Short for Pre-Painted Galvanized Iron. It takes hot-dip galvanized steel sheet as the base metal. After surface pretreatment including degreasing and phosphating, one or multiple layers of organic coatings are applied by roll coating process and then cured by baking. It integrates the anti-rust performance of zinc layer and the decorative effect of colored coating.
Corrugated: Refers to waved and profiled shape. Flat steel is cold-rolled into wave, trapezoidal and tile-like corrugated structure, which greatly improves the bending resistance and rigidity of the sheet.
2. Core Features
Excellent corrosion resistanceDouble protection: The inner zinc layer provides electrochemical rust prevention, and the outer organic coating physically isolates environmental erosion.Its service life outdoors normally ranges from 10 to 30 years, depending on coating quality.
Light weight and high strength Much lighter than concrete and tiles, while the corrugated structure ensures great load-bearing capacity and wind resistance.Common thickness: 0.13-2.0 mm.
Easy constructionLight sheets with large single coverage area effectively shorten construction period.Direct installation is available without secondary painting.
Diversified appearanceAbundant colors (customizable according to RAL color card); surface finishes include high gloss, matte and frosted.Various profiles: classic wave, trapezoidal rib, tile-style profile, etc.

4. Main Applications

5. Difference between PPGI and PPGL
PPGI: Base metal is galvanized steel. Cost-effective and suitable for ordinary environments.
PPGL: Base metal is galvalume steel. Better corrosion resistance (especially against acid rain) than PPGI with higher price, ideal for coastal and high-corrosion environments.
Hot-dip galvanizing is the process of applying a protective zinc coating to a steel sheet or iron sheet, to prevent rusting.
* Excellent anti-corrosion, paintability, and processability due to the self-sacrificing characteristic of zinc.
* Available to select and produce the desired amount of zinc gilded and in particular enables thick zinc layers(maximum 120g/m2).
* Classified as either zero spangle or extra smooth depending on whether the sheet undergoes skin pass treatment.
