I. Product Definition
Oxygen blown steel pipe is a special seamless steel pipe specifically designed for oxygen-blowing operations in the steelmaking process. Its primary function is to stably and efficiently deliver high-purity oxygen into the steelmaking furnace. Through the oxidation reaction between oxygen and impurities such as carbon, silicon, and manganese in the molten steel, it achieves the purposes of decarbonization, temperature increase, and removal of harmful impurities. It is an indispensable key consumable in modern iron and steel smelting processes.
II. Core Characteristics
The performance requirements of oxygen blown steel pipes are highly matched with the steelmaking working conditions, and their core characteristics are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
Excellent High-Temperature Resistance: The temperature inside the steelmaking furnace usually reaches 1600-1800ºC. Oxygen blown steel pipes must maintain structural stability under high-temperature radiation and instantaneous high-temperature contact to avoid premature burning or fracture. They are generally made of low-carbon steel or micro-alloy steel materials, and their high-temperature strength is optimized through heat treatment.
Good Corrosion and Erosion Resistance: Molten metal, slag, and high-temperature gas in the molten steel have strong scouring and corrosion effects on the pipes. The inner wall of the oxygen blown steel pipe must have a certain hardness and smoothness to reduce the adhesion and erosion of impurities.
High Strength and Toughness: During the oxygen blowing process, the pipe must withstand a certain oxygen pressure (usually 0.5-1.5MPa) and external impact during operation. It requires the steel pipe to have sufficient tensile strength and impact toughness to prevent pipe explosion or breakage.
Precise Dimensional Accuracy: The deviation of the outer diameter, wall thickness, and length of the steel pipe must be controlled within a strict range to ensure the connection tightness with the oxygen blowing equipment, and avoid oxygen leakage affecting smelting efficiency or causing safety hazards.

III. Main Application Fields
The application of oxygen blown steel pipes is centered on iron and steel smelting, and at the same time extends to other high-temperature operation scenarios, including:
Converter/EAF Steelmaking: This is the most important application scenario of oxygen blown steel pipes. They are used to blow oxygen into the steelmaking furnace, accelerate the smelting reaction, and improve the quality and production efficiency of molten steel. They are the core components of the "oxygen top-blowing" process in converter steelmaking.
Ladle Refining: In ladle refining furnaces (such as LF furnaces and VD furnaces), oxygen blown steel pipes can be used for oxygen blowing to stir the molten steel, promote component homogenization, or assist in removing gas impurities such as hydrogen and nitrogen from the molten steel.
Continuous Casting Process: In the continuous casting process, oxygen blown steel pipes are used in some scenarios to locally heat or deoxidize the molten steel in the crystallizer or tundish to ensure the quality of the continuous casting billet.
Non-Ferrous Metal Smelting: In the smelting or refining process of non-ferrous metals such as copper and aluminum, oxygen blown steel pipes can be used to transport oxygen or other reaction gases to assist in completing the oxidation and impurity removal process.
