42CrMo4 is a medium-carbon chromium-molybdenum alloy structural steel specified in the European standard EN 10083-3:2006, with the German material number 1.7225. It corresponds to the Chinese grade 42CrMo and the American AISI grade 4140. The number "42" indicates a carbon content of approximately 0.42%, while "CrMo" denotes chromium and molybdenum as the main alloying elements.

6. Heat Treatment Process (Key Process)
Quenching and tempering (to achieve optimal comprehensive properties):
Quenching: Heat to 850~870ºC, hold for sufficient time, then cool in oil
Tempering: Heat to 550~580ºC, cool in air, to obtain tempered sorbite microstructure
Other heat treatment processes:
Normalizing: Heat to 850~900ºC, cool in air, to improve machinability
Surface hardening: Induction hardening process to increase surface hardness to 53 HRC+ and enhance wear resistance
